Waking up at 02:00 was not really pleasant but then things only got better. I truly enjoyed 2hrs drive on empty roads, then about 2hrs climb in total darkness in fresh snow. The sky was very cloudy, no stars visible. Even that was amazing, all the trees covered with fresh snow. Getting higher the moon became visible and it was a bit more promising. With still a lot of time before sunrise the surroundings started to get violet colour. Being just a few metres above the clouds the conditions and visibility were changing very quickly. The photo shows snow covered the and just edge of Mt.Kotel showing itself for a brief moment. This all beautiful light and conditions lasted for just a while. Pure natural beauty. Well worth the effort.
